A woman who posted on the social media and forum platform Reddit received much support for her recent decision to divorce her husband due to the revelation that he has a 5-year-old son. According to Newsweek, Reddit user and Original Poster u/throwaway483848382 posted on the popular online platform that around six months ago she and her husband found out that a one-night stand that he engaged in years ago resulted in the pregnancy of a now 5-year-old boy. The one-night stand was about 1-year before the Original Poster and her husband got married. Of the situation, u/throwaway483848382 wrote, “After a DNA test, my husband is confirmed as the father,” she wrote, adding the child was now 5 years old. “He agreed to meet his son, and they have hit it off well. They have been spending a lot of time together, and the mother is happy to let her son connect with his dad. But the problem is… we both agreed to a child-free life. Neither of us wanted kids. He even got a vasectomy, and I got my tubes tied.” Furthermore, u/throwaway483848382 went on to explain, “This may be cruel of me but… I can’t stand children. My husband knew this about me…I don’t dare to force my husband to choose me or his kid, but this isn’t the life I agreed to. I haven’t told my husband yet, but I’m already talking to a lawyer.” In the comments to the post, the Original Poster also added “I’m not changing my mind, and I don’t like his son. Period.” The response to u/throwaway483848382’s post was immense. The post itself garnered 5,500 comments, and 13,000 “Upvotes”, which indicate support for the post or that it should be seen by others. One user plainly said, “Sounds like it could be a sad but amicable split.”
