Is “Working Moms Doing It All” The New Leading Cause Of Divorce? Divorce Lawyer Shares Theory On TikTok

DivorceHeart

A New York divorce lawyer is going viral after sharing his views about modern divorce on social media mega-platform TikTok. As the Today Show reports, New York divorce lawyer Dennis R. Vetrano, Jr., recently posted a video on TikTok about what he believes to be a new “major theme” in the divorce industry, despite the general downward trend of divorces in the United States over the last 50 years. Vetrano Jr. states in his video, “She’s got the kids, she’s got the groceries, she’s got the laundry, she’s got the meals, she’s got the work, and by the way, she’s making all the money and she’s paying for the house and doing everything else.” What Vetrano Jr. is referring to is the phenomenon he claims to see more and more in divorcing couples, that “moms in the workforce ‘are tired’ of managing their careers while also handling the bulk of the household chores.” In other words, in Vetrano Jr.’s eyes, the leading causes of divorce in America today are not only “finances, infidelity, and addiction”, as they were in the past, but “working moms doing it all” is a leading cause that “has been climbing the list roughly for 10 years.” Vetrano Jr. notes that due to being the one that “does it all” around the house, with the kids, and also at the office, many of his female clients refer to themselves as “married single parents”. The Today Show points out from a 2015 survey by the Working Mother Research Institute that 70% of working mothers responded that they are responsible for doing the laundry in their household, and they are also twice as likely as fathers to handle the cooking chores.

A Cause or “No Fault”? Does the Reason for a Divorce in Chicago Matter?

Ultimately, in Chicago, once a person has determined that their marriage is broken and their differences with their spouse are irreconcilable, they need not prove further cause for the divorce, such as the fault of the other spouse. So, ultimately, whether a person divorces due to a cheating spouse, or because they feel that they have taken on too much responsibility in the relationship, they have rights and options under Illinois marriage and divorce laws. However, those individuals seeking a divorce in Chicago should speak with an experienced Chicago divorce lawyer about their rights and options as soon as possible to protect themselves and their assets.
