Ameena Syed is an experienced family law attorney representing individuals in all stages of family law matters, including prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, dissolutions of marriage, allocation of parenting time and responsibilities, and parentage actions. Ameena employs a holistic and collaborative approach, and is committed to zealously representing clients while remaining thoughtful, compassionate, and practical.
Ameena began her legal career in family law as a law student, working as a judicial extern to Hon. Mark J. Lopez (retired) in the Domestic Relations Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County. She then joined a prominent family law firm in Chicago as a law clerk, and then associate, where she remained for eight years. She joined Arnoux Sharma Standeford as a Junior Partner, where she remains committed to supporting clients through their cases with thoughtful representation, frequent communication, and unwavering advocacy.
Ameena co-authors a chapter on attorneys’ fees in the 2023 and 2026 editions of Family Law: Preliminary Considerations in Dissolution Actions published by IICLE and was formerly a contributing editor to chapters concerning postnuptial agreements and unique employee benefits. Ameena serves on the Advisory Board for DePaul University College of Law’s Schiller DuCanto & Fleck Family Law Center.
